The Long Parade

The Long Parade

A Poem by carl
"

The genre makes no sense to me so I'm going to label everything poetry. Don't see how it can matter anyway.

"

Yes the road goes on forever

though at times in retrograde

do not flee to the sidewalks

just stay in the long parade.

Hands to reach

Feet to move

Head to guide

Heart for song

It helps if you look to the horizon

at the peace beyond the breach

since only hopeful eyes can see

the place you are meant to be.

Days to count

Words to speak

Paths to cross

Bridges to burn

We are all caught up in it and it goes on and on. Marching to the beat of another drummer some of us out of step yet still marching the same direction. Very nice Carl

The parade of life... follow those who can see the horizon and find the right paths....if you do not...you may be left behind and lost....I like your words of advice...it make complete sense. ..." only hopeful eyes can see"....

How many of those sidewalks have distracted us throughout life I couldn't guess. Could it be a plan by managers to lure us into new regions we need more maps for, or are we just so distracted by the right now that we take our eyes off the prize for instant gratification?

Great advice here. Yes, by all means stay in the parade. And keep your eyes on the horizon. Those who give up will be left behind.

Thanks for the read and review, - carl
This captures some of the daily confusion that besets us all, the rush to work, the rush home, the hustle and bustle that is our existence. But HOPE...hope is there too as long as we have words to speak and a heart for song. I enjoyed this.

Most of which is pretty straightforward in life yet as for bridges we pause and ask which to burn and which to keep. And that case seems mostly clearcut but there are times when a bridge would have some future function and benefit. Just a random thought as this poem unfolded in the reading. Much enjoyed! Thanks for sharing.
