"

response to a prompt by fellow poet on our site

"

Prompt: - suggested by Rachel Fitgerald -Feeley

A 7 line poem is called a Septet or Rhyme Royal

with the rhyming sequence ababbcc.

Creative writing prompt from www.storymakersclub.com

Start with sentence 7 on page 7 of a book on your shelf

"Never Have I Contemplated" how it might end.

Never have I contemplated

through my own will or force

a rosy end generated

unless by a divine divorce

and I mean of course

through no action of my own

will I escape being stoned.

  *******************************

A poem can do many things but a "Poem Cannot Conclude."

Escalate a friendly philosophical debate

Expound on which poetic meter is best

Everlasting loves or one only second rate

Envision holy sanctity of a house wren’s nest

Enrage and inflame the political breast

Express sweetness and be point blank rude

Expect anything but simply cannot conclude.

I must try this. It has its own beating heart. A bit like pulling oneself up by ones bootstraps.
