Balancing the Weight:

Villainous herky jerky grackle’s rage

strutting iridescent chest sheen swag

at mock robin and cardinal players

milling among the abundant suet cage

dispelling evidence of abundant crass

hidden deep beneath their dark hoods

ready to take the offense despite the

profuse victory trash on the grass.

.

                     then

Argument breaks then comes fear

children crying running through tears

while a fevered kiss leads all astray

at celebration of the champions day.

Brother, sister, mother, or child dies

falling with flowers and prayers curbside

sad souls remain shot clean through

by a snake-oil seller hawking shoes.

Elsewhere officer and first responder

perish trying to rescue someone other

as feverishly we witness to watch latest

tonight's three point shooters at best.

In unbalanced visualization of news

we are shown facts tended to excuse

the billboard antics of playful clowns

now weighted heavy and falling down.

Bread and circus was the curse of Rome

and now renewed and brought on home

to balance a tipped and soiled crown

so long as the gun show is still in town.

You have a love of the English language, reveling in the sound of words. I share the same passion. Your reference to Trump that snake-oil seller is priceless.
