The Errant Traveler

The Errant Traveler

A Poem by carl
"

To me hope seems to come and go of it own accord.

"

The Errant Traveler:

This vision against an ashen sky

seen only with a mortal’s eyes-

tapestry trees as lovely brides

cascade softly in gossamer light.

Creation’s Pythagorean spheres

counter winter diurnal rhythms-

Thomas Cole allegory cathedral

as seraphim light hills terrestrial.

Sprites wings escape earth’s tilt

on slipstream light of first dawn-

night veil lifted invokes a peace

that ferry the darkest fears away.

Soul’s grand momentary notion

no yearning summons answers-

no grasp will hold an exclusion

of constant melody and refrain.

Not the place where hope abides

but this is where his truth resides-

in a likeness repeatedly inscribed

the Errant Traveler still remains.

Hope is a lot like luck like that. We can't pin anything down, but we do feel it's presence.
I could also add faith to that list, but I as an agnostic never really believed in it until I took ill and I found myself praying and making deals with something I don't believe in, just to get out of the mess I was in at the time.
Now thankfully better, I understand faith people have a bit better, but another way of explaining it is that I am a hypocrite. 😊
I guess we all want to believe that we somehow go on in some form after life has ended. I just think that if that's the case, heaven would be hell to me, too crowded and too noisy and I'd hand my wings in gladly after about a week of that for something somewhere far quieter.
I think your second line says it all. How else can we see but with the eyes of a mortal?
Really enjoyed your words.

Each lines when I read it looks like a double poem. So depth and meaningful way you wrote. I can take this poem as a travellers quest, a philosophical quest or in psychological terms. Great one
