If all we experience is allusion then what it alludes to must be the real thing. Thanks to John the Baptist for getting me thinking (however unclear on my part)

"What it is, what it was, what it shall be." The only thing that stays the same is that everything changes. I enjoyed the read. I remember Robin Williams put out a comedy recording titled, "Reality; What a Concept." Don't worry about being clear. I like fuzzy things; bunnies, sweaters, memories. ;)

(smile) Wishing you the best of luck on your sale. You make some really cool looking stuff. Poor Robin, a comic genius that made the world laugh while he hid inside the closet of his demons, alone. Mental illness is never pretty but when it comes with such genius it is saddening and often goes unnoticed because people chalk it up to "quirkiness" or personal eccentricity. Cheers from me and my cup of Joe. F.
Reminds me of The Matrix film somewhat, your poem.....is what we live truly the reality or is there something else? All we have is our senses and our mind to come to our own conclusions. Is it concrete evidence for us? Who knows. But whatever is the true reality, is a frightening and slightly confusing concept. We'll all know the truth some day. John's meditations sure get one thinking and your poem continues in that vein.

Agree with you on the frightening and confusing aspects of reality but at the same time exciting and exhilaration. I guess.... an unexamined reality is not worth living (paraphrase or adulteration of Socrates famous saying about life.) take care and thanks for your read and review.
I remember from an early age, wondering if what I saw as any particular colour was the same as what others saw as a particular colour, and then I began to think that if you slow them down, words started sounding stranger and stranger and despite my youthful age, I can tell you that the duster the teacher threw at me was very real, as it bounced off my head in a puff of chalk dust.
I can't really remember what it taught me, other than the word concussion sounds really weird when you have a concussion, as well as trying hard not to daydream in the classroom again!
But your words certainly resonated within me, a bit like that chalk duster thingy bouncing off my head. 😊

appreciate your time to read , review, and comment. enjoyed your chalk dust recollection - carl
Sometimes, reality or the real thing seems so scary, at other times quite strange. If we really zoom in on the starkness of it, I could be frozen too. It can be quite an unsettling experience to get a grip on. I enjoyed pondering on your words today.

It was a great reading experience. Thank you for sharing.
Well, Carl, it appears you have been doing some pretty heavy thinking yourself. I take "It is what it is" as an adjuration not to belabor something that is unchangeable. In other words, practice non-resistance. Likewise, maybe the best way to deal with our illusions is to let them be what they are while staying open to the highest within us.

Me too Carl.
"Expressed as taste
see smell or touch
doesn't quite get it
so very much, so"
Reality, became more fable than truth my friend. I liked your words and thoughts. Allowed to wander to hidden thoughts. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Jacob this is another of your poems that I love. It's topic is intriguing and your expression of it is so well done in meter and verse. It reads as if it was talking to me and talk to me it does.
