This was so very different. I enjoyed the read. The symbolism I'm not familiar with but I'll assume from the Author's note it has some foundation in Norse mythology. That's a cool looking penguin...looks like an Emperor Penguin upright like that. I studied dada art in college briefly (art appreciation as one of my humanities) and the nonsensical collage effects incorporated into some of the works. I don't know that this is nonsensical but it seems to seek to define something beyond grasp. To me it was like reading a Lovecraft horror story where he attempts to describe the indescribable with vague references. It had a really cool and lingering effect. Nice work.

an objective point of view is much clearer than a first person one which can be clouded by subjectivity.
But can we write with the emotion taken out..."When one writes, doesn't that make one quite detached"
I like to feel the memories in first person...close...with a heart's influence.
I really like this poem.

thanks for the read and review, greatly appreciated thoughts you shared. -carl
Really interesting, Carl. It took me a minute to realize the poem begins jn the left margin. I do think that format adds some mystery and is a good idea.

thanks for the read, review, and encouragement. much appreciated.
This feels like memory all right, especially 'broken wings'. With every passing day I feel like my memory just fails me more and more. At least it keeps me committed to living in the moment, haha!
"Dada images."
And this perfectly encapsulates thought, since grasping for it feels like sifting through a lot of absurd and nonsensical shards.
Very well done, carl!

thank you for your kind words and the specific reaction, just what I had hoped for in a reader. thou.. read morethank you for your kind words and the specific reaction, just what I had hoped for in a reader. thought about Dali images as that is what a lot of my thoughts (dreams) seem to echo, but felt that was toospecific to one artist, so whet with a more general movement Dada. again thanks - carl
A great piece. I loved the topic and the structure of your presentation, using only two words per line, thereby simplifying and emphasizing the duality. Nicely done.
