Stepping Lightly

Stepping Lightly

A Poem by carl
"

just a though

"

Stepping Lightly:

Tenuous steps

evade translation

circumvent facts

create illusions.

Light speech

avoids direction

hangs wanting

garners disinterest.

Beware tiny feet

requiring many steps-

illusions are easy

truth is evasive.

Walking on eggshells is a habit of many. It's never good for the eggs though. (laughing) I'm the forthright sort that thinks everyone is entitled to my opinion. ;) I was told once by an officer that I had the right to remain silent but I just didn't have the ability. It ended badly for him in court though. He got his toes stepped on by the judge. I still had to pay court costs for something they called "prayer for judgement". My prayer was for no court costs. The judge basically entered a plea of "guilty" on my behalf for something I was not guilty of. I didn't have a lawyer handy to explain it to me at the time. Live and learn. That's the best we can hope for in this life I guess, learning from it. I enjoyed the read.

Your third stanza gave me strong imagery of a toddler taking many small steps to reach a point across a room. It can take many steps these days to uncover the truth. Truth certainly seems to be evasive and yet we will keeping searching for it. I enjoyed the poem and the format of short stanzas carl.

Great wisdom shared in your words Carl. Hard to do and we must try. Walk softly and speak with kindness. one day, we shall learn. Life is what we leave behind. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I think the last two lines say it all for me. Illusions are definitely easy, especially in this world where truth becomes more of an outlier, but it is still important. And yes, often it is small steady steps that keeps everything in line. Nicely done.
