Don't Touch That Dial

Don't Touch That Dial

A Poem by carl
"

just having some fun remembering a primary source of entertainment as a kid.

"

 Please don't touch that dial

Tarzan is wrestling a crocodile

Amos and Andy I know, I know

really just two old white Joes.

Inner Sanctum creaking door

even though the audio's poor

gave me honest to goodness fears

had to put fingers in my ears.

Boston Blackie's a friend to friends

with them till the very end

not the same with enemy to enemies

no such thing as any frenemies.

The Shadow walks out of sight

knows the evil in the night

lurking in the heart of men

let's hear that evil laugh again.

Gang Buster's siren last and last

echoing constant Tommy Gun blast

Dick Tracy's Tess Trueheart

loved this hero from the start.

Don't you dare touch that dial

I'll will listen a long long while

just remembering as a kid

that this is what we all did.

Those were the days. I remember our first tv. Tiny screen, huge cabinet and an on and off button, brightness and contrast. My favorite programmed was Robin Hood with Richard Greene. All in black and white. Thanks for the smile and the memories carl.

We grow up too fast, our childhood days are almost over before they have started. A most entertaining write Carl, fun to read and so well written.

A lot of fun, Carl. I used to adore Boston Blackie. And Peter Gunn. And Johnny Yuma. And The Thin Man.
Nice little jaunt back in the wayback machine.

Wow, I remember those old shows, and fiddling with the rabbit ears to get a clear picture.
Funorama was must-see TV after school! :)
Johnny Weismiller was the best Tarzan!

I remember. Our old black and white hand-me-down console rolled until you hit it with a stiff slap on the side. Turn the antenna whilst I check all three channels. Yep, I remember it well. Better than yesterday...or today haha.

If The Shadow could witness modern politics, he'd realize he didn't know half of the evil that lurks in the hearts of men. And women.
