Choice
A Poem by
carl
based on a recent conversation
Choice:
"There is no choice," he said-
"you just go with the flow.
Like a boat in a stream
you'r carried along-
taken where you're
meant to be,
what ever happens-
it's your fate to travel
a path unknown."
Ahead the trail divided-
I stood still
while he walked on
taking the path left.
"Why not the right one?"
I asked.
Over his shoulder
he called back-
"Car's over here."
Following him,
I replied-
"Oh, good choice."

Haha, love this one, Carl!
I guess we're sometimes so deep in deep thoughts, we miss the obvious.
Reminds me of an old move, 'Harper', I think, when the guy is practically busting his shoulder to bust through a door and Paul Newman just reaches down and turns the knob :)

much like Creeley with the conversational poem...
I love it.
although, I might have walked awhile just to see what was over there.

lol, good one, carl. Directions we take in life can change them in major ways. Finding the car may not be major, but it's a wise decision for sure. 🤣😁

What is it Mr. Frost said about "The Road Not Taken?" That it made all the difference in his life. It sounds as though your friend, for all of his talk about having no choice, chose to take the well worn path.
