Poised on Periphery

Poised on Periphery

A Poem by carl
"

you've been there

"

Poised on periphery

toes at the edge-

memories call

a sigh

wipe of eye

back away

one more time?

too many more times for some of us.

This left me with the feeling of gathering the courage to make the leap, that two time look into the abys just before saying to oneself, ... here we go. Short and to the point. It's brevity makes it more powerful.

One way to read this is as the mindset of one contemplating suicide, but I doubt that's the case. The periphery can be anything, including the facing of a new day. I can recall many a morning when I sighed, but then went out and got the job done.

The Periphery is ok for a visit now & then,
as long as your Center keeps pulling you back in.

truth.....
Sometimes it is too painful to linger. Other times you can turn it into a poem. A piece of brevity I can relate to carl. Thank you for posting.

don't you love when the morning's first thought turns out to be an artful one.
