Introspection Again?

Introspection Again?

A Poem by carl
"

Not saying introspection is a bad thing, certainly useful at times, but sometimes a bully and a pest. Or so it is with me.

"

Introspection Again?

Just a backseat driving, side-street fanatic

with deep affinity for hit and run antics

presenting a collection of things to say

expressed in a paradoxical way

with an abundance of  myriad excuses

as panacea for self-inflicted abuses.

This is what you get with the mind of man.

What did you expect when building on sand?

had to chuckle a bit at me self, Carl. i am an introvert and my challenges in live have been found in that search .. it is easy to be self critical .. guilt ridden and filled with terrors, even .. the mind can be formattable and deceptive for sure ... but there is also treasures .. knowing one's self to begin with .. great stuff .. really enjoying your poetry .. peace and joy

Sometimes, it is comparable to OCD. The self-bashing and looking within never ceases. It loses its charm and utility. I loved how you described introspection here.

Sometimes we can be too hard on ourselves, but then again if we simply accept everything we become complacent! We will always make mistakes, but hopefully not the same ones over and over again. Interesting write!

retrospect tends to be a backseat driver...a Monday morning quarterback...
but somehow all the self-inflicted abuses never seem to teach us.
We still build sandcastles that crumble with the tide of life.
Quite a good philosophical piece.

Before I comment on introspection, i'll have to give it some thought.

I think it's good to be our own worst critic if it inspires change for the better in us and for us. People are always saying, "Don't judge" but I think it's healthy to judge ourselves once in awhile or at least take inventory of how we are doing as decent human beings. I enjoyed the read.

I enjoy your take on this act of introspection. Creative and metaphorical. Thank you for sharing!
