Time Bomb

Time Bomb

A Poem by Toon
"

this poem was written to be performed, so it might not sound so great in your head.

"

despise the rise of lies and let them die

bury them like artifacts of a time gone by and reenact the cry for a notion you can’t buy

an ocean flowing with knowing

unperturbed by the lowly glowing specters of catastrophe -

the philosophies of minds catalytically engaged in hyperbole and hypocrisy

rage against the cage of doctrine and tradition

bathe in the rays of inhibition and volition

a far cry you might be from worthiness and decency

your limitations and lamentations founded on uncertainty

I beseech you to reach you

put down the implements that besiege you and your diligence will meet you

crass are the asses who lambaste and blame

the last of the last in a corrupt domain

crazed by the rains that feed the seeds of their pain

which restrains them and contains them but will not maintain them

this is a time bomb - this world where we reside -

a real pie-in-the-sky driven by blind eyes

that scour and forage the insides of minds only to find

that truth does not linger behind the guise of a man’s pride which seeks only to trivialize -

truth, my friends, is objectified and realized only if we seek to rectify and not anesthetize.

the latent mind grows fat with disorder

with every tick-tock of the clock you get trapped

in your own flack while your time gets shorter and shorter

if only your bearing were true you could cross that boarder -

the line between ignorance and order

you need only illuminate the hate that dictates your fate

necessitate your willingness to take a stake in faith

abate and disassociate the tendency to propagate ideas

that don’t satiate the need we all need to alleviate -

the need to give shape to our ideations

and for all our sakes make collaborations

that replace divisions with visions that provide

education and provisions " not regulation and collisions

here is the place where we at once create debate and

harmonize the quake that shakes all minds and faiths

the world doesn’t wait while the mind masturbates

this world was at one time reserved and preserved for A-type personalities

keeping the masses in the shadows of unreal TV realities

pontificating cleverly the age of the communication revelry

the smoke and mirror devilry that begets unrequited destiny

now nailed to the wall in effigy like the christ on top of calvary

look through the eyes that distinguish abnormalities and extinguish mental maladies

be free, not a casualty

Now why can't rap be like this? lol. Nicely penned. I think you've pretty much nailed this home. Now is anyone listening? Good turn of phrasing here, has it's own rhythm and charging forward with each line.

The choice nugget:

" this is a time bomb - this world where we reside -
a real pie-in-the-sky driven by blind eyes
that scour and forage the insides of minds only to find
that truth does not linger behind the guise of a man’s pride which seeks only to trivialize -
truth, my friends, is objectified and realized only if we seek to rectify and not anesthetize. "

and along with the rest, I concur and am in accord.

a fantastic rhythmic rant that, when set next to your other more cerebral poetry, shows your range. good stuff dude. I'd love to hear you perform it.
cheers!

An excellent read, and I can see that is someone had a bit of flair, they definately could be quite entertaining using this as a spoken word. THis was indeed masterfully crafted and well executed. I would love to see this piece performed in the way it was intended.

Matthew

it actually reads very well performed or not but i like the third paragraph the most to me it says more without running on the other wo are good too but the meaning can get lost in the many faced paced sentences if your not careful.
