POLITICRAFT OF NIGERIA

POLITICRAFT OF NIGERIA

A Story by Shittu Temitayo A.

What shall it profit a leader or a follower in destroying our beautiful, great and beloved country Nigeria? “Youths are the leaders of tomorrow” that is what we have been hearing for the past forty years or more; and ever since we haven’t seen any youth assume the position of power in Nigeria yet they (leaders) claim we are the leaders of tomorrow without being given chance to contribute our own quota to the development of our great nation Nigeria. Questions need to be asked, are we ‘youths’ truly the leaders of tomorrow or we are just a pawn in the hands of our bad leaders? .
Seriously speaking are we mechanism, machinery or instrument for violence? It is high time we Nigerian youths arose from our slumber and stick together as brother in arms and fight for what is just and right. Fighting in the sense doesn’t mean we have to equip ourselves with dangerous weapons, I enjoin the Nigerian youths to shun violence and act of indiscipline. Let sincerity, peace and progress be our watchword but we should not succumb to pressure or castigation. What discourages most people from voting during an election time is because of this notion that their votes doesn’t count.
As youths, let us start seeing ourselves as leaders already, let the spirit of nationalism flow in us.
Nigeria got independence from Great Britain on October 1st 1960, but if we take a very critical look at the system of governance in Nigeria, those that have been ruling ever since 1960 are still ruling either directly or indirectly, enough is enough we are tired of bad and corrupt leaders who doesn’t care about our well being, leaders that loot our treachery.
As a leader and on behalf of the members of ‘VISIONARY NIGERIAN YOUTHS’ group I’m saying that until Nigeria is good, we will not retire (amen).
Election is here again, its an opportunity to replace corrupt and bad leaders with good ones, have a positive attitude towards the forthcoming election and be more than
determined to make your vote count.
As a Nigerian youth with visions don’t allow any corrupt leader to use you as an instrument of destruction, don’t allow yourself to lured into violence. Let me make something clear here, don’t be deceived by sugarcoated mouth politicians, your vote is your right and your power don’t even think of selling it.
To my fellow Nigerians, let us incorporate the idea of ONE UNITED NIGERIA, lets do away with our cultural or religious differences and speak as one people with a vision and mission of taking Nigeria to greater heights. Lastly, shun violence, vote not fight.

In United we Stand, Divided we Fall.
Long live Nigerian Youths.
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Well, I certainly hope your story is read and your advice followed by those who can make a difference. Unfortunately, most young people are ot interested in plitics but in having a good time. People don't see what's happening in the government until later in life when they become more serious.

The U.S. Ganed independence from Great Britain in 1776, or thereabouts, and we are in the same fix your country is. We have greedy and corrupt leaders, who lead a nation of sheep. Hopefully, that will change in the next election.
