"

Lilith finally knows that the stories are true.

"
all her stories

she had been told
stories all her life
of the boy-king who
reigned over the isle
of dreams - the isle
of nightmares.

she had been told
stories all her life
of the savage boys
who roamed the woods,
always looking for a
fight. always looking
for a game.

she had been told
stories all her life
of the mermaids and
the sirens which swam
in the ocean's deep
waters, but she had
never seen one.

she had been told
stories all her life,
but as she watched
her father's ship sail
away from the isle of
dreams, she knew the
stories were true.

you used to tell us
stories, papa. she
taunted from above
the heroes in the trees,
her voice soaked in
laughter and mirth -
not in longing for her
family, for she had
found a new one.

i'm told you used to
tell stories, captain.
the king mocked, and
placed his hand against
her back - pushing her
towards her father,
towards her past.

you used to tell us
stories, papa. she
whispered as her
feet landed softly
on the deck of his
ship - the deck
of her home.

you used to tell
us stories, papa,
about peter,
about neverland,
about the boys,
about the mermaids.

you used to tell us
stories, papa, and
now i know that
they're true.
