Dilapidation

Dilapidation

A Poem by Priya

You break my heart with the
efficacy of a bulldozer dancing
on a porcelain plate.
I never knew before I met you
That love is a drug with a
potent side effect of hate.
Your face and your smile
that once sent me to rapture
are now beginning to grate.
Your voice that used to
sing to me now hums
the monotony of fate.
I don't know if it's early to
say I don't love you, or
whether it is too late.
I'm sitting by the ruins of
the love we once built, now
left to dilapidate.

This is a beautiful way to say the old saying that love and hate are two sides of the same coin. It's so weird how we end up in these flashpoints that melt love & it turns into a burning grease fire while both people are helpless to turn things around to a better way. "Bulldozer dancing" is a great phrase & there are many more, too! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

a bulldozer dancing on a porcelain plate. Now that is poetic.

Wow. Firstly, I love the structure and the rhyme scheme. It builds up a pretty neat rhythm. Secondly, great use of imagery. At this point in my life, I can, unfortunately, relate only to well to this emotion. But well, life moves on and so should we. There is not point in dwelling among the ruins, right?

I like the idea of dilapidation as it has no certainty and leaves me to think there might be hope. A building may be left to go to rack and ruin as a lover deserted; they can be left to crumble or renovated back to love life

Loved the comparisons in the first three lines, and the way two lines that rhyme are totally in contrast. I like how there's this uncertainty wrapping the poem up, like the poet is lost somewhere between being in love and falling out of love. Love is left to dilapidate sometimes. Its unfortunate, but unavoidable. Title is perfect. Xx.

Its a wonderful choice of words ... spoken with a frankness and simple honesty ... that marks the relations between two people as being equally cognizant ... of each others dreams. Nicely done.

That love is a drug with a
potent side effect of hate.
Love has not any side it spread every where and every nerve. It kills thaough it is a new born. You poetry remain in the first sight...
Great skill...and great read.

Love is so mysterious, it can be a weapon in the wrong hands or a cure for loneliness and heartache from the right heart. I feel you on this one cause I've been in that situation… nicely express.
