Fake fluorescent skies

Fake fluorescent skies

A Poem by Carissa Easton

Fake fluorescent skies

Do a tumble above my head

Plastic personas

Do a dance of liberty

The world topsy-turning

What do we value now?

Reality takes on a new dimension

I call it re-defined

Others call it insanity

But they will find it’s just…

The Surreal

A new kind of crazy

Smitten enamoration

Fantastical creation of my imagination

My version of existence

Not insane, just different.

This is my world

This thing no longer confined

To the relative safety

Of my abstract mind

I see the looks

The wide-open eyes

Scared yet attracted

To my whirling ideals

Join me, all normality, in…

The Surreal

A new kind of crazy

Smitten enamoration

Fantastical creation of my imagination

My version of existence

Not insane, just different.

They creep closer

Then jump back

Don’t they see

What it can mean to be free

Of these constraints of humanity

‘Normality’
