Hope

Hope

A Poem by Carissa Easton

Life is a constant battle

Of a spiritual kind

The enemy consistently warring

In a battle of the mind

We feel disregarded

Broken and distraught

Yet the only truth about this is

The absence of hope

Will sicken your soul

Three things, will gain you ground

And keep your mind and heart sound

These are hope, vision and a solid faith

In the God above

Not in some stone-based wraith

Your heart may scream

‘My soul is downcast within me’

Yet to regain hope

Let the word of God be

The loudest voice in your life today

His compassions never fail

His promises never die

His presence is everlasting

He will get you by

Three things, will gain you ground

And keep your mind and heart sound

These are hope, vision and a solid faith

In the God above

Not in some stone-based wraith

I always admire and respect those of such strong faith, it's a beautiful thing to witness. Keep up the strong writing!

I really like this how it is now, but I imagine it is even better if set to music.
I think my favorite line is:

"The absence of hope
Will sicken your soul".

Very well done. *smile*
