Broken

Broken

A Poem by Carissa Easton

She is but, another girl

Gifted for everything

Excellent at nothing

She has dreams, like everyone else

And like all other dreams

Hers may never be realised

A steady beat, runs through her veins

not one of the heart, but one of the brain

an undeniable need, to pay heed

to a melodic ghost inside

constantly whispering

to a hope that will swifty die

Her unconscious mind

unknowingly calls

to the conscious one

to acknowledge the thrall

of a flying leap, a graceful sweep

then again, she lands in a heap

Broken, and alone again

Everyone else flying high

But she has been left behind

Yet she lingers on, and with a final effort

she is up, in the game once more

A steady beat, runs through her veins

not one of the heart, but one of the brain

an undeniable need, to pay heed

to a melodic ghost inside

constantly whispering

to a hope that will swifty die

This is the story of her life

one of constant anger, loss and strife

yet also one of hope

and a constant joy

that things will heal

I really liked this. It captivated me from the beginning, taunting me to read on - and I'm glad I did, because it was quite a joy to read.

beautifully written. I agree. Never let go of a dream that has been planted in your heart.
