Mermaids

Mermaids

A Poem by Cristina
"

The title says it all...

"

Beneath the brined waves of the blue-green sea

A world lies wrapped in enchantment and time, With castles where the seaweed and kelp meet,

An image pulled from lore and pulled from rhyme.

Just past the coral reef and briny barge Where ships are lost and broken down of sail,

Beneath the blanket of the moon and stars,

The folk of half fish sing their mystic tale. T

heir hair is like the finest coral stones,

Like shining gems their eyes spark wisdom true,

And skin unsunned and pale as unearthed bones,

A sight that brings an angelic like hue.

These mysteries of realms from the great deep

Are only found in a young child's sleep.
