The Sea

The Sea

A Poem by Cristina
"

The title says it all...

"

The rippling sea moans madly to the

Delirious sky. In the distance the

Salty frothed waves crash unto itself,

Mixing and mingling as though at a

Revelry. Above, the stars salt the sky

Like millions of tiny fireflies perched In the night.

The sighing wind enfolds

The feral water, delicately rippling

The green/gray water. A mysterious

Light penetrates the darkness, lighting

The sea as she rocks to the rhythm of

The snowy white gules overhead. Splashes

Break the still of the water as fish leap Into the air.

Golden and blue, purple

And yellow, green as the emerald and

Red as aired blood; their smooth, yet dry, scales

Shimmer in the moonlight, and dance with the

Deep. A flutter of voices rises from

The mist as the mermaids sing their solemn

Lullaby. Sweet refrains like sugared

Cakes and frosted treats to calm the raging,

Lascivious beast known as the sea.

"Sweet refrains like sugared cakes..." I can't get enough of analogy! This is very-well composed. Please don't stop!

I enjoyed this very much. I love the imagery in, "Above, the stars salt the sky, like millions of tiny fireflies perched in the night." Incredible work.
