Waiting for Autumn

A Poem by Crimson_Woad

Waiting for Autumn

Autumn in the South isn't here just yet
But she and I have made this little bet
If I live my time through the Spring
And the heat Summer to bring
She will court me into her arms
While I sing her these comforting psalms
My soul warms to her presence
Just imagining her malevolence

But for now I will just sigh
Let Spring and Summer pass by
For I share her with the North
Because she'll be back on the Fourth
I will be greeting her there
In the cool, fresh, clean air
Singing "I love you my Autumn lady"
Under the Jacarandas, so shady
