Nowadays

Nowadays

A Poem by Emma Cathryn

Her eyes close just barely,
but enough to know
she's breathing.
Sometimes, she needs to stop that,
the constant pain of heartache.
What better way to do so
when people sleep
so blissfully?
No one to hear you crying.
Not a soul to see you dying.
That's for the best.
Since no one knows
that you've been lying
all this time.
You're not fine,
you're not well.
You've finally reached hell.
To stop the pain,
to stop the ache,
you pierce your skin
and you know you wont wake
from this godforbidden nightmare,
but you're holding back for my sake,
Since you know I really care.
And that's the only thing you're sure of
nowadays.

I love this. At first I wasn't feeling it but it grew on me :)
