Finger Prints

Finger Prints

A Poem by Emma Cathryn

This is a fingerprint
warm, soft
and smooth as a baby's cheek.
Mysterious and hypnotizing,
it's easy to get lost in,
with one gentle gaze.
Detailed, yet simple,
reminding you constantly
that everyone is different.

Now it is a maze
with the tall hedges
leaving you trapped.
Going insane within the walls
of the mind-boggling labyrinth.

Now it is a sandy beach,
each sand grain
different from the last,
even if similar in size
or color.

Now it is a paintbrush,
leaving personal remains wherever
as a trail to your adventure,
with colors staining objects
and lives you've touched.
