In Ruins

In Ruins

A Poem by Emma Cathryn

I'm ruined,
but you don't care.
You don't see
the lengths I'd go
just to show
how much you mean to me.
I thought this through
and I owe you
an apology.
But you cannot
just walk away
from all this past
and history.
There's so much here,
more than told.
But in my eyes,
it's still gold.
Walking out
is giving up
on me.
And this is really
not what I need
from you.
I loved you,
and that
once upon a time
showed you did too.
But growing up
screwed me up,
but yet,
it changed you too.
I'd do it all,
all again,
but this last time
without the fall.
