Lovers Faith

Lovers Faith

A Poem by Harold Mathews

I stand at the precipice

with only my faith

to hold me there.

I feel an insatiable longing

for the angel

with raven hair.

She balances my heart

on the tip of her finger.

Uncaring? Unconcerned?

Does she sense my fear?

or feel my passion

so long left undisturbed?

She whispers to me.

Have faith my love

I shall bring no harm to you

so tender I will be.

Have faith my love

For in giving me your heart.

You have brought me to my knees.
