My dear devil

My dear devil

A Poem by Violet Chan

Promise that you made,
hoped it wasn't a lie,
"I'll come back to you" you said,
But now, I cry

As darkness embraced you,
Which you never known
That it hid the true view
And made you drown

Into the memories of your evil act,
From which you suffered,
You needed me to protect,
So I gave you a hand.

You gave me a smirk,
Which left me puzzled,
I realized it was your trick,
Now I'm raged

But I knew you are not the same,
Who was once my ANGEL
Now, I promise to save you from the DARK
So I'll kiss you gently.

This hits home for me if I interpret it correctly. The speaker sees the darkness in his/her lover, but can they accept it? Those we love are the brightest in our eyes but what happens when they are plunged into the dark? What happens when they prove to be as flawed and lost as us? My fellow sufferers, let us find some peace and kiss each other gently.

Thank you very much
The Devil made me do it. An oldie but goodie. I like the structure and the rhythm of this it is over all good poetry. The Devil needs no sympathy.
I enjoyed reading this. God Bless
