Trampled At ChristmasA Poem by Barry S. MalteseIs this what God really wants from us?
Trampled at Christmas
By Barry S Maltese
It’s supposed to be a season of loving
Not one engulfed by pure greed
Gifts should be given to those we care
To help them fulfill a deep need
But somehow we all lost site of that fact
And like animals we charge a sale
Losing the true meaning of our celebration
Causing our intentions to fail
At the beginning of our Holiday Season
A store let it’s customers in
And everyone trampled on one poor employee
And his murder was each of their sin
For they had to get that sale they wanted
No matter who stood in their way
So, that innocent man, and his family
Would be the one who would so dearly pay
Did anyone feel a bit of remorse?
Did they see their gifts tainted with blood?
They killed a man because of their greed
His life washed away in their flood
Is this what our creator had actually wanted?
Is it what the spirit had defined?
For when God said to spread love this season
This was not what he had in his mind
