tetherA Poem by ghost writerlove. it's a tether that keeps us all down to earththe lady of the lake, apple of my eye, say you love me, yes i do...
words to remember, in the midst of war, bloody battle strewn across mighty oceans,
a small reminder, of a greater cause, for what are we fighting for?
i fight for love, those hazel eyes, framed perfectly in bloodred glasses
hazel eyes, too innocent to conjure those horrors. to even imagine them is beyond her
so i lift my gun, and heft my pack, on one blood-shod march after another.
one battle after another strewn across the murky sky, where gunsmoke and mustard gas collide.
i fire, the gun rattles, empty. my thoughts flash to her side
and the cost of this stupid war is our bond our chance. for a family for eternity.
and i see her in a wedding dress, waiting for the groom but he does not come and i fume
for i am the groom but time separates us. and then, i realise i am still alive
the roar i hear now is the cheering of countless comrades...
now i am old, my hands well worn and knotted so are hers, but more so for pulling on the tether that keeps me to reality. © 2010 ghost writerReviews
