Those MemoriesA Poem by Pyrrha RaynOh those memories haunting me....Those Memories The
car is streaking…. In
a fast pace blur…. The
rolling hills go dancing by in the background. My
friend is showing off…. And
I can’t help but laugh at his antics…. The
thrill of adrenaline slamming through my veins…. Making
me feel alive. But
I don’t realize where we are…. Until
time begins to stall and I see that house…. That
once was a place I called home. The
memories come flooding back…. Running
through the fresh cut pasture…. Dodging
the attacks of playful dogs….. And
the late nights listening to the rain sing. Slowly
my mind returns to the car…. As
it whips around a turn and speeds down the highway…. Towards
the pink dappled sunset. I
can see her arms opened to me… And
I can’t tell in this moment…. If
I’m more dead…. Or
in fact more alive. © 2012 Pyrrha RaynAuthor's Note
