In Memory of 9-11

In Memory of 9-11

A Poem by Pyrrha Rayn
"

Already been 10 years

"

We were in second grade...

The world was still innocent...

Our teacher had just turned on the tv.

Just in time to see...

Those mighty twins...

Crumble in agony to their knees.

We didn understand...

How could we?

War had no true meaning...

Not until that fateful day.

That day we learned...

In a very hard way...

What destruction really was.

What broke our hearts the most...

Was the thought of kids just like us...

Who would never see their parents, brothers or sisters, and best friends again.

But we had a measure of gratitude in our hearts...

For those citizen soldiers who gave their life...

For a greater calling so that others may have a chance...

To return to their loved ones grasp.

And on that day...

When sadness and destruction hit...

We truly became one nation under God.

People forgot their diffrences...

And instead of falling we came together...

And rose that American flag.

Everyone shared that comon thought...

"Flight 93 fought back...

And so shall we."

But as some wounds began to heal...

We remembered how different we were...

And soon that strength faltered.

So remember 9-11?

We always will...

But sometimes we forget to remember...

That feeling of unity.

Until we see the pictures...

And that proud flag...

And we remember "Proudly Born in the USA".

We may have our differences...

But as we found out in a heart wrenching way...

We'll always have each others backs.

All I have left is to say this...

"Let's Roll"

Don't worry about making anybody mad. Remembering that day and the lives lost and the horror...it isn't grudge-holding. It's a salute, a reverence to the dead and a tribute to the survivors. If anybody has a problem with that, they need to get their heads checked and not give so much of a damn if they're politically correct or not. I loved your poem. I was in the third grade at the time. I remember the unity as well. More than anything. Your poem was very easy to identify with. Loved it. =)
