May Angels Guide You In

Poem..its more of a story...sorta deal...

I always look up to you...

How strong you were...

How when they pushed you...

You always managed to fight back.

 

But, now all I can remember is the day...

The day I found my life will never be the same...

The day those angels came and took you away.

 

I just want to see you one last time...

Though I know I can't...

I hope you hear these words...

That come screaming from my heart.

 

That image is still burned...

The way you looked laying there...

The glass combed through your dark layers of hair...

The innocence of your life glowing through your silence.

 

But, your face looked all wrong...

There was a light that no longer shone...

And it was like in that one instant your fighting spirit had gone.

 

I promised to never hurt you...

And look what I've done...

You're gone and I'm left with this broken promise.

 

But I still had that faint glimmer of hope...

But as soon as we got to the ER I knew...

The blood on the floor and the way your hair was combed back.

 

And in that moment I saw those angels...

Pulling you away to a place...

Where you will never come back from.

 

May those angels guide you in...

To the place you deserve to be...

But, please oh please will you forgive me.

 

I wanted to say goodbye...

To see your eyes light up as you say...

"Never goodbye...just see ya".

And oh how I remember it so clearly...

The day you slipped away from my grasp...

And I got my wake-up call as I realized...

My life will never be the same all because you're gone.

 

I'll never be able to bring you back...

But I hope you're smiling as you watch...

And you'll be waiting for us with open arms.

 

I hope those angels guided you in...

Because I swear I still see your face...

In the stars and in my heart where I wrote your name.
