CowardA Poem by NoelPoem about breakups.Coward
I stare at the empty driveway. Waiting for you to come, walking in.
I know you won't come, and I won't go looking for you, because I am a coward.
Sitting, waiting, watching emptiness still the coward.
Too scared to see heartbreak. Too hopeless of moving on, you would call me a coward.
The words sting like cuts. The words are cuts. Too afraid to clean the wounds. Still the coward.
"Just a heartbreak," they say. But it's much more than that. It's life ending, nerve-wracking, unable to end.
One day the heartbreak I will move on. Still a coward, but moving on. © 2008 NoelAuthor's Note
