A Poem by Emma

My heart can feel the weight of itself
and it is an amount it has not weighed
since love last took its burden.
But your smile is going with you and
I do not know the touch of your hand
or the feel of your kiss
or how you spend your Sunday’s.

I want to know, I need to know;
you have taken all of that with you
and I am stuck - in this seat
on this plane , in this state -
while others are taking your existence
for granted, while others just
take your goddamn smile for granted.

I hope you will remember me because
I cannot ask for you to wait
but I can pray that you will at least
imagine a future with me because
my head is full of daises and
you are the one who picks them.
