Things In Peices

A Poem by Invisible Ink

"
I crack open like an egg, fragile
but with a tiny life inside
I fall apart like a withered rose
petals find wind and drift away from the center
I shatter like pieces of a mirror
reflecting parts of life in tiny shards
I break in two, and two again, like a heart
to form chambers where the blood flows
I break the surface like a tattoo
imprinting color into skin
and forming a picture
I fall through the cracks
like a sieve, in many fine threads
I splinter like the limbs of a tree
falling to the ground with a snapping sound
I need repair like an old truck
sputtering its way to a breakdown
