The One I Lost

The One I Lost

A Poem by Invisible Ink
"

Written for a friend

"
I want to wrap you up
in a heap of warm blankets
and take away the cold

I want to hold you to my chest
and feel the rhythm of your heart beat
with mine, and your warm breath

I want to hold those little hands
and kiss those tiny toes
and count each one to ten

But you are gone now
only this hollowness inside me
where you won't be back again

A river of tears can not sail you
back to me, even this golden thread
can not keep you tied to me

My soul reaches out
to your soul and guides your way
away from me

You will always be
the one I love
the one I lost

Aw. Break my heart. This is so beautiful and so very sad. Wonderful job turning tragic life into elegant art.

One can never know the type of pain created by such a loss but the mother herself. You have come close and to empathize with your friend is endearing! and brought me to tears. Sweet woman you touched me and your friend is blessed to just know you. I will read more of you.... And know, you already are a great writer... you don't have to become one, you just are!

Amazing write on a terrible loss.
As a parent, we will never stop and always accept to guide our child wherever he has to go, even if this means away from us. Your poem is filled with this incredible love.
