Digging Holes

Digging Holes

A Poem by Invisible Ink

Digging holes
It seems, all my life
I've spent digging holes
For myself, then
I, looking up, from the bottom
Wondering why
I dug so deep
Or did I trip and fall in
While not paying attention
To my feet, walking blindly
Thinking somehow
The Universe will watch
Out for me
These dark holes in my head
Where no one wants to go
I don't want to live there
anymore, I climb out
Cover them up with dirt
And start looking ahead
