The Graveyard Of Your SoulA Poem by Invisible Ink
I walk through your tombstones
in the clear morning air all the things you choose to bury there each marked in your precise hand I marvel at the care you gave in giving each its name and place the dates of birth and death of all your troubles, etched in stone I know no one could rub them out so I don't even give it a try I never even ask you why because there is no coaxing those spirits out of you you, so bold and out in the light of day but so hidden and scared when the darkness passes across your face while I watch the sunlight fade move across those immovable stones in the afternoon, and night moves me I shiver, wrap your sorrows around me to keep out this chill that you have spread around this graveyard of your soul only you know © 2016 Invisible Ink |
