The Light You Gave

The Light You Gave

A Poem by Invisible Ink
"

When you talk to me
you don't hide it
that little spark inside
you thought you lost
and then you found
one day, in the woods
you were holding hands
in the dark, there it was
shining like an ember
from some long-forgotten fire
its sparks lit up the night
a halo of fireworks
in the sky, and I saw it
and followed your light trail
the constellations
bloomed in front of me
like some kind of miracle
that I deciphered out of
the clear star-filled night
a winding path, a grassy hill
the sounds the brook made
and a comet trailing light
my map was made
from those forgotten places
of you, you shone so bright
I remembered all the places
where I had hid that
kind of magic, that kind
of light, so we traveled
inside caves and on rocky cliffs,
while I gathered the slivers
I had once thrown
and now, I wanted to save.
