Just a Memory

Just a Memory

A Poem by cquig

The night we shared everything

Just a memory

Lying in the shade of the tallest tree

Just a memory

Things I loved so dearly, taken from me

Never to return, oh how my heart yearns

Thorns of a rose dig deep but I feel no pain

Pain is just a memory

Just a memory

Holding you in my arms, the night your mother died

I loved you even more for your vulnerability

Wiping tears from your eyes and making you smile again.

Dancing on the rooftop to the sound of our beating hearts

Your heartbeat, a symphony to my ears

The joy in my life, the joy that was you, is now

Just a memory

It’s hard to say goodbye to the ones you love so dearly

You will hold the other half of my soul until we meet again

Your heartbeat fades as do the memories

How hard I try to hold on, but soon they pass away

Just as you did

Now I wander through this world so frightened and alone, no memories to keep me strong

Feeling empty I continue to wander until I’m

Just a memory
