Blind AttackA Poem by cquig
Blind Attack Watching the leaves rustle, chasing them as they blow past the front door. Eyes so alert as you wait for just one more. Hearing what I cannot; staring down at a deserted lot. You miss nothing; everything catches your eye, Your tail constantly twitches at birds in the sky. Crouching down, ears lie flat, getting ready to make an attack. All of a sudden, from behind, another one jumps you, catches you blind. Tumble, kick, hiss and spit, stand and circle a little bit. Much bigger than you, his back fluffed up and arched Green eyes stare through you Lick your lips as if you’re parched. You stand your ground and arch up too, circle again and now you’re through. He lunges forward jaws lock on your throat, You cry out and kick just as he begins to gloat. Circling each other once again, sizing up, foe or friend. You lie down to show he’s won; he curls up close to you this round is done. Stroking him soft and slow, he turns to you all aglow. Your golden eyes at half-mast, the blind attack a thing of the past. 2004 © 2009 cquig |
