The Girl and the Sun

The Girl and the Sun

A Poem by cpoynter
"

A girl gets lost among the world as the sun searches for her.

"
There was this girl,
once,
and she was always
getting lost, and
the sun could never
find her.

She would wade around
in total darkness
with nothing, but
her thoughts
to keep her
company.

She didn't like her
thoughts though, they
just conflicted her
making her fall victim
to uncontrollable rage
or the overwhelming sadness.

One evening,
after a long day of traveling,
the girl sat down
in the dark
and
wept.

She cursed the sun
for not finding her,
for not searching for her
for his warmth
that did not embrace
her.

She cried
so loud that the sun
eventually heard
her,
became aware of the suffering
he left her alone with.

He peaked
over the mountain tops,
going against the laws of time
and nature, challenging
the world just to find
this one girl.

Her eyes drenched
in sadness
she felt a warmth
rest gently on her
shoulder and
she looked up

the sun was smiling
at her, and
she could feel
his warmth,
his love,
his heart.

For the first time
in years, there
was light in her world
that was thick with dark
thoughts and he never
left her side again.
