The Face of Progress is Not Always BeautifulA Poem by OydrinProgress does not always say "woke up like this". As for possible shaming yada-yadas, over explaining insults readers.
There once was a man who thought
His integrity was intact The fool that he was, he had thought him ideal When in fact he had all but tact He was somewhat of able thought There was rarely a question on that But he had about him the delusion of fitness By someone who truly was fat It is no fault of his upbringers, Neither his education for sure But he failed to see, although lectured was he, Lessons not found in literature Yes, his books had done him real good He had doubtlessly soaked in them well But some greater intentions he had he did wrong, And for that, his misfortune befell So in front of a mirror he went; Gained an insight now no longer new A reflection so far from ideal; in parts ugly; Though not incorrigible; true And that insight now no longer new, Caused him one necessary pain Which despite the complexities misfortunes brew, An enlightenment utterly plain Now that one necessary pain, Took decisively in its stride The man once so perfect, and freed him thereon From the fears that he hid with his pride For that one necessary pain, Slew decisively with its stride Such that even if met with resistance so great Human man could not possibly hide Come oh sharp inevitable bite! Come indiff'rent reality! Come, but bring too the medicine, bitter but sure That would well be the healing of me Oh unsightly reflection your might (strength): An indiff'rent reality! But by life, I will do all the work I ought do 'Til a better reflection I see © 2022 Oydrin |
