Thoughts Written While Sitting on a Dormitory Double DeckA Poem by OydrinThoughts in my dorm on a workday evening
My things, though merely happenstance,
bethought when time allows -- they are not altogether immaterial nor disparaging. They are not as idle as some wiser fold would have you think. For perhaps, presently, and in respites between struggles come the muses of un-clustered variety; And my heart in its unbridled gaiety sings, as a bird upon a summer would, "Joy is come, love is come." As the sun shines bright in the middle of the twilight's day, sing, "the night it comes, but it leads to the morning, and those who walk dissatisfied are those unable to relinquish the unrepeatable beauties of yesterday." So it is but fair to this indifferent world to present an abundance of beauties, nevermind leaving woe if a man's only joy ever ought to pass him by, riding on the saddle of time, that remains infallible and true as it flies. That nature has for law and life has for statute the practical policy; the currency of one glory for another at exchange rates quite so high, I find so little to none that my heart holds dear for barter; but even if I did, the saddle of time would give ride to only one. On this high, non-negotiable steed, leaves no rider no choice but be wise -- smart and knowing but no less recalling, the glitter I find in my love's eyes; Oh, what joy there is in memory, -- what love and longing too Still that bird will sing when tomorrow comes, Leaving yesterday no less true.
