To Ask in FaithA Poem by Oydrin
Should someday in my searching
I should stumble on the thought, That my faith was in vain And that my prayers were for naught, That angels are of fiction And that God is of the mind That heaven is not waited on But something that you find That purgatory is a concept Given to the fools And the real fires of hell For those who follow Godly rules That those who claim to seek God Have the meanest of desires That I have been a follow'r Of some hypocritic' ire Would I still aim to be the good That no one clais to be? Or bail out my fanatic faith And finally be free! Should someday I find out The Pope's no better than I am That he is not one bit more pure Than anyone of them Who kill and slay and save the day But for themselves alone And nothing more than this Beyond the realm of the unknown That peace is only for them Who can well afford the word And "good" just an illusion That can't go beyond what's heard That love's just an appeal To get another one to sing And end the song when joy to us It can no longer bring Would I hold steadfast the belief That kindness is a choice? Or bail out my fanatic faith And let it drown in noise In answering these things That have thus held me to extremes I shall resort to seeking Unadulterated schemes That my mind shall judge by After giving things much thought And leave me ever open, Not with intellectual drought
