Diego and I argue over the moon.and a Mexican word.
Are you sure ? about the moon ?
The light, the waves, the distance ?
The girl , the dance,? The word ? "Metiche"
Tlaquepaque Mariachis ,a brave herd banded together,
Wrapping a sarape of sound dancing darkening night.
Pulque leaning into me, pushing me back, standing yet,
Defying gravity, the moon tilting me behind my boot heals,
( mañana a mexican two step )
But now I will dance with..... that girl,
A horseman, my crease is different then theirs,
We spin ,tilt, her balance in my palms,
one low on her back, one holding us together,
Oh she smiles, green reflections in the eyes, thick red braids coming askew,
Castillian I think,
The music slows a space, grows between, but her hip or eyes or magnets or the moon,
The crowd , the plaza, the leader moves forward or his compadres move back,
But the tune is different, like the crease of my hat,
A Fandingo
That space is eying me "Gringo" (I feel) they know something I don't.
Soothing slow her shawl shows a shoulder,
the tempo quickens, but just so, I tamp a heal,
and there is a dimple, from nowhere, to the right of her smile ,
I am Irish, So I double tap, and give her a wink.( Mezcal was it four or three)
Her name ? Solea ? Rosa? She matches my Boots with a shadow leans to me quiet ,close,
Whispers warm on my thoughts ,"No puedo esperar"
Why did I speak spanish , mexican , look at the length of her hip ,tip my hat, and say ,
"Muévete!"
That shawl flew ! The guitar came alive ! Flamenco !
Frigin A, a Dance I can't do.

Lee I like when we, writing down here at the w/c help each other to/ birth poems. I can't tell you the number of pieces I in the last year scrapped off my comments section after being inspired by discussion, or by a verse. To me, more than even getting reviewed it's the discussions and the readings –––– the idea sharing, I most appreciate about the w/c. I think the real power of this forum, lay somewhere in there, and is still pretty much untapped... people like to get read/ write a few shallow words and move on... But you don't explode ideas without any type of friction, a fuse. You know what, I'm saying? Anyhow, in this piece. I like the way you start out with the questions; enticing the reader further, yanking at their curiosities. I've been to more than a few of these dances growing up, where my kin's cowboy world crashed (more like merged) into that of a spanish ballroom-influenced celebration, and I was always amazed and inspired by the honor, the respect, these hardworking men of the range had for such affairs, and respected they were, too.. But yeah, there was a wildness also, the type that only they, could be forgiven for... And that's what I got from this piece, Lee; the culture, the love, the wildness, and, the respect....
I appreciated the journey, here , sir

Lee, I am so glad to have someone to celebrate with-- that Diego is back. I'll dance too, at this party under the metiche moon... If she's really paying attention, she might think were crazy (she's just jealous though, you know).
...The music slows a space, grows between, but her hip or eyes or magnets or the moon...
Anyway, this poem was pure delight-- I can't read it without wanting to smile, wink... Maybe take a flamenco lesson-- or just pretend... After all, if my partner is the moon, any way I dance will do...
There is a difference in cowboys and horsemen. You shouldn't worry you being a horseman ought to fit right in.
