Trembling

Trembling

A Poem by lee von cleef

Thank you,
Veterans Day,
I always feel today,
Waste and loss,
Peace and gone,
Cool breath encircling the clouds ...
The mountains prayer flags litter the Sky.

Catching up with your work Lee. Veteran's Day has always been a solemn spectacle for me, too. I always think of days out on Fort Bliss, Fort Sam, Bragg and Drum. Or overseas at camp Silo or God knows what name some hack in an air conditioned room would come up with. I think of suffering. But most of all I think of names like Gottus, Toy, Benoit and First Sergeant So and so, or the sad quiet ones in the corner who never talk, but know, what they are feeling.
Introspective piece, Lee. It made me think. Remember.

Short and powerful, I like it. Especially the "cool breath" line.

Somehow I missed this one, but still want to say how much it is appreciated!! It is a feeling many of us have as we tremble at the thought of the sacrifices made for us!!

So few words yet so much said. We see a lot of remembrance day poems, this one however stands out from the crowd because you have used so few words but said so much, well done indeed!

You are very welcome!
There is a lot said here in a few words with more than is apparent being less than obvious on the surface.
An extraordinary write from the heart.

well put lee von cleef ... hopefully not a waste
perhaps some day greed, avarice and killing subsiding will allow one to be less defensive of ones home.

your last line is absolutely stinging ... to the marrow ..
