A Burr and a Blanket

A Burr and a Blanket

A Poem by lee von cleef
"

“A man's life is always dealing with permanence, that is the most dangerous kind of irresponsibility is to think of your doings as temporary.” ― Wendell Berry --

"

What is reverence ?
I used to tie a tie around my neck,
With reverence.

I used to walk into a Bank in ah,
Stained glass ceiling ah.

Reverence of a babies head in my palm,
Her body resting on the fore of my arm,

The life refusing to leave her hand,
a salute of ...

Reverence.

How do I convince you ?
Reverence then is now ?
We are present.
Those memories are a part of your reverence.

Relevant.

You are not a outcast.

You cast
Cockelburr permanence
In the world you walk.

"A burr under your blanket will get you bucked off" Reverence I think it is relevant.
A latigo to hold your saddle on.

When one steps on the stage of life, or in this case, rides on the back of a horse, the imprint of that person may seem to be a temporary one but like the cockelburr that digs in a bit more with each bounce, the imprint actually becomes more real, more alive with each movement, each action.

One may step off the stage, one may dismount the horse, but the memory is forever - permanent as you express. Reverence for the experience, for the memory, for the past that is ever present is paramount! We are present. The memory of the former is also present, and permanent!

The stage of life is ever here, the rider ever remembered!!

Beautiful words of love and respect my friend!!

Our society has strayed away from some of those old rules and morals which is not good for sure..Great work expressing that idea..Enjoyed reading your work today..Sara

Quite a few use memory as their muse. Fewer use their chosen muse quite so well or evocatively. So that the rest of us poor mortals can actually empathise through such words.
