Elk City, Smaller then SmallA Poem by lee von cleef58 years, the Chosen
Smaller then small, all is connected,
I think of a Banker Bob Allee, Old he chose to sit alone, His back against a ceder post Holding up a four strand barbwire fence, There in his foreground the oil-well that shook the ground, When he was young, The one that gave him a jump start, Raining black drop's, The ground raising with the pipes intrusion , Two daughters one away , Oh she could dance and sing and crop a tail, The other,a quiet sweater camouflaging her bold. They did not find Dad till the next day, But He was happy in his end. Watching the well that filled the red of ranching. Placing his trust in the hand His wife of 58 years Reached through a Beckham county sunset To bring him home. © 2013 lee von cleefAuthor's Note
