Oh Torreon,

Oh Torreon,

A Poem by lee von cleef

Sat in a line of traffic downtown bound,
Small town,
One way through, no real way around,
Like the sound of Torreon,
Torreon pinion, short stubby ceders,
Spaces of sand pinion ceder sand ceder space pinion,
A line,A line, and I learned tomorrow my anxiety was right,
Semi killed one rider, two more following too close,
Thrashed and trashed on to a hospital,
And me, my daughter ,young won't answer her phone,
Driving, I taught her that, and that.
But oh, the wait worry wait.
Give me a short stubby ceder,
Don't leave me alone, in this line of cars surrounded by Tall Tall pines,
Pull over pick up the phone ,
This is Dad, oh pick up,
Her sister's Pickup,
Crushed, right here,
Right here, where I am in this line,
This line ,
Give me the pinion smoke in Torreon,
"Mother Mary" hands clasp,
"Guadalupe",
I speak the names out loud ,
For a blanket of comfort,
'Til she picks up the phone,
I wish the sound ,
Torreon
Could comfort you too.

A TL Boehm poem "Torreon" inspired work. Torreon a spot that holds a much darker place in Miss Boehm's head, but we both share a similar anxiety.

I know that feeling well, Lee. Every time you pass through that spot where your life would never be the same, something happens. A wave of blue memory. flickering, images. a voice. A regret.

You Can't even breathe, in a place like that.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful, rhythmic
sad song.

thank you Tai, ya smiling with the plague.
Poignant is too small a word for what this is. In fact I am at a loss to find a word that will encompass all of this and do it justice.

This hit to close to home as a Mother who has suffered the loss of a child and grandchild then is still and always shall be so raw. I do feel it was well written and almost prayer like

This seems like a tragic story. I am not exactly sure where Torreon is, or what it is like, but it sounds as if its meaning to you and its meaning to another, is quite different.
