Oh Torreon,A Poem by lee von cleef
Sat in a line of traffic downtown bound,
Small town, One way through, no real way around, Like the sound of Torreon, Torreon pinion, short stubby ceders, Spaces of sand pinion ceder sand ceder space pinion, A line,A line, and I learned tomorrow my anxiety was right, Semi killed one rider, two more following too close, Thrashed and trashed on to a hospital, And me, my daughter ,young won't answer her phone, Driving, I taught her that, and that. But oh, the wait worry wait. Give me a short stubby ceder, Don't leave me alone, in this line of cars surrounded by Tall Tall pines, Pull over pick up the phone , This is Dad, oh pick up, Her sister's Pickup, Crushed, right here, Right here, where I am in this line, This line , Give me the pinion smoke in Torreon, "Mother Mary" hands clasp, "Guadalupe", I speak the names out loud , For a blanket of comfort, 'Til she picks up the phone, I wish the sound , Torreon Could comfort you too.
