Rose Red Rain in Arlington

Rose Red Rain in Arlington

A Poem by lee von cleef
"

"The End "A Poem By, The Random Writings of me. .Kates,Gave a piece of my father back to me.

"
"Listening to the falling autumn rain"
Tin roof tapping out Morse code to a soul,
To a soul carrying so many through the maze so close to the edge,
Marching slow the children in a line
Of slow Arlington Time, so close they pass, careful to honor each stone,
And the blood from the places where men died
Splash droplets of red,as if from sortes above
Pass after pass,
Thump thump waves the grass, thap  thap the rounds are near,
Thump thump the chopper flies away, no ride tonight, eyes rise, eyes drop
And rose red souls are lost in the tracers searching lights.Brushing a stone the child's Elbow
Brings fourth a twist in time
A tail gunner ,shot dead with, tail and rudder, he comes to a face, of the darkest soul
Wraps a arm around her cool pale shoulders
Splits himself in two ,one for her ,one for the lives entwined in Flugabwehrkanone
Flak,flying,indiscriminate .... metal,Man, indifferent
For the marauder is broken, no flaps to steer only the power of two engines
The hands of a"Douglas Duster"to get them home, hand in hand step by step
They drop the gear to land among  children's souls, and men
Rose Red Rain through Arlington,
French ,German souls, small Christ like ,how did they speak? Insane, lost
In the war of man
The "Douglas Duster "  lost his tail gunner, but saved the"Mole" ... his crew
But it was the Tail gunner ,50 caliber gun,"Flying Prostitutes ",
Call girls of the sky, a "Widowmaker"." Xterminater" Martins'
with "No visible means of support"
The man crammed in the back, who  guided the cowboys hands,
He wanted nothing but the best for his friends.
After the man, Behold the Cowboy  wouldn't speak of war.
But I found the orders;
"Interview the towns" ,that he bombed,he can't "Interview" a town ?
Those were people !
His soul wept, gathered the lost ,
Children broken
His core..his gut..embraced Kindness.
Left their ...souls ,left small... Christ like, broken ,shades of rose red children,
With the men in Arlington's stone pattern soil.
We ,me you ,I ,...live ,because of Souls and Men.

A very moving and emotional piece. The tragedy of war. Too bad countries feel so strongly they must embark on wars when so many don't really seem necessary. Maybe 'those in power' see it as a way of population control. I don't know. So many wounded and lost like you describe in your truly well written and gripping tale. Impressive work.

You're welcome!
Lee... Moved to ... Shoot. Moved beyond description by this one. Again thank you for dredging and bringing forth that which is so difficult to hear but which must be heard, honored, remembered. So that we remember that gratitude should never be platitude but something much more ... Where would we be without men like Casey? His gunner? The crew... Those boys? What would our heritage be? Thank you to you. To Casey. To my Major Ayres. My father, uncle, cousin, nephew and the sacrifices the thousands of others and of those left at home. Gratitude is such a small word for such a great debt.

This is a powerful poem. I loved the sounds early in the poem. The war imagery was very powerful. I really liked the ending.
Thanks for sharing.

You have invoked such deep emotions in me as I read your words, and I think of all those who are left with such powerful thoughts, feelings of remorse, grief rising up to greet them each day, wet with red rose rain on the brows of lost tomorrows! A memorable, and powerful write!!

Rain on a tin roof a lonely sound that whispers of solitude and peacefulness. Just like the breeze found among autumn leaves. …rose red souls are lost in the tracers searching lights… now that is a sobering image of souls lost.

From the dignified opening in Arlington Cemetery to to the chaos of the battle scenes in Europe, the poem encompasses a great range of tone and emotion. it has a wonderful panoramic sweep, a poetic equivalent to the film The Deer Hunter. I found it very moving. Congrats.

Thank you ,I still treed light on the poem, as it seems to be lodged in a sacred part of me.
this piece was deeply moving and powerful... the language being quite beautiful, consuming.. the imagery was haunting and burns an impression on your mind.. like scars that don't completely fade out, a lot of detail, yet surreal, you get a sense of eeriness, something so sad and lost to machineries of war, the pain and trauma deep down is indescribable.

A very atmospheric piece of writing about war, death, maybe a big enigmatic for me,as I didn`t check all the background, but I liked the feeling and style.

That was really good. Thank you so much for writing it. Feels like a WWII piece. The last war America fought that made any goddamn sense. I've always wanted to do something about the Wehrmacht. They were an army to be proud of when they were fielded in 39. If you've not read it read "fire flys" by Dean Kush. Really good.
Great poen man
